TRICARE covers ABA therapy for beneficiaries with an autism spectrum disorder diagnosis through the Autism Care Demonstration, a program built specifically for ABA services. There is no annual dollar limit and no lifetime maximum. Coverage continues as long as services remain clinically necessary. The program is available to qualifying family members of active duty service members, retirees, and certain National Guard and Reserve members enrolled in TRICARE Prime or TRICARE Select. The ACD is currently authorized through December 31, 2028.
No cap, period. The Autism Care Demonstration does not have a yearly spending limit or a lifetime maximum. Your child will not lose coverage by exceeding a threshold.
A program designed specifically for ABA. The ACD sits alongside your child's standard TRICARE benefit, which continues to cover speech, occupational, and physical therapy separately.
Your family gets an Autism Services Navigator. TRICARE assigns a dedicated Navigator who helps develop a care plan, sets goals, tracks timelines, and connects your family with resources throughout the authorization period.
Six-month authorization letters, two-year referral cycle. Authorization letters renew every six months. A new referral from the diagnosing provider is required every two years.
Call (888) 494-6090. We confirm your TRICARE plan type and beneficiary status.
We verify your Autism Care Demonstration benefits.
Your diagnosing provider submits a referral to TRICARE's regional contractor. We walk you through exactly what to request. Active duty families must also confirm enrollment in both EFMP and ECHO before coverage activates.
TRICARE issues a six-month authorization covering your child's initial assessment and four required baseline outcome measures.
Your child starts sessions at home or through parent coaching.
We manage six-month reauthorizations and coordinate the two-year referral renewal so nothing lapses.
Your child finds words, learns to ask for what they need, and gets to be understood.
They do more on their own, one skill at a time, with less help getting through the day.
They learn to be near other kids, and gradually with them.
They build better tools for hard moments, so fewer things derail the whole day.
Mornings, mealtimes, and transitions start working the way they're supposed to.
There's more of it, and less of the day spent in crisis mode.
Services covered by TRICARE at Centerbrite include Early Intensive Behavioral Intervention for children up to age 4, Comprehensive and Focused ABA for children ages 4 to 16, and Parent Coaching in-home and virtual.
We bring parents into the session rather than the waiting room. You see the work, understand the plan, and know how to carry it forward at home.
We keep caseloads manageable so your BCBA can adjust before your next reauthorization, not just when it comes up on the calendar.
In-home sessions during real family moments: breakfast, getting ready, bedtime. Parent coaching for the hours we're not there.
Regular check-ins, written progress notes, and direct access to your BCBA.
